It has come to our attention that there may be a section in the Fair Housing Laws that applies to our membership structure.  Here is the section that applies:

DISCRIMINATION IN PROVISION OF BROKERAGE SERVICES

  SEC. 806.  After December 31, 1968, it shall be unlawful to deny any person access to or membership or participation in any multiple-listing service, real estate brokers' organization or other service, organization, or facility relating to the business of selling or renting dwellings, or to discriminate against him in the terms or conditions of such access, membership, or participation, on account of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin.

 

From our interpretation, this is basically saying that we are not allowed as an "organization", to discriminate against non-Christian real estate agents in regards to membership.

This means that if you are a real estate agent that is not a Christian, we will not deny you membership based on your religious preference.  If any of the requirements or language in the application process does not apply to you because they are "Christian" specific, you do not have to complete those questions.
